Forever
young with anti-oxidants
|
| The latest anti-aging skincare products to hit the market
are moisturizers enriched with vitamins and antioxidants.
Traditional vitamins and exotic antioxidant extracts from
carrots, grape seeds and green tea are just a few of the
latest to hit the markets.
Antioxidants (Vitamins A, C, E) protect against free
radicals -- unstable molecules in the body that attack
and damage healthy cells and tissues. Environmental
toxins, including pollution and smoke, add to the damage
by accelerating the production of free radicals. By
the age of 50, some 30 % of cellular proteins will have
been damaged by free radical activity. There is a fair
amount of experimental evidence to support the role
of antioxidants in reducing long-term skin damage caused
by the sun and, in some cases, partially reduce damage
that is already done.
